a land of sulfur stone

Let go of me an inch, I’ll fall a mile.

I want the sky

to fling me wide

open as a glitched witch’s

sleep-bleary soul,

pouring like a portal from the demon toll.

Let me rumble the rift beneath earth skin,

landscape

shrub acne,

river

drool,

put me down

beneath the untamed wilds,

hearts untethered,

stolen geysers,

I’m still falling

out of love

with you.

~~

But I got the light behind my tired eyes,

still gonna eat the moon up from the rafters,

gonna drink the sea down there right after,

give it an inch

it’ll take a mile

of shoreline,

my heart’s still beating loud

and the roars of the thunder

echo in my veins,

the bears escape

wolf cowl

clad in night’s howl

stampede

the evergreen;

I’m still

dreaming after you.
