Wishes beyond Sky

Let the sky fall on my head,

down through the savage ravage page

tattered battered stone age

ragged flayed dogged rage–

don’t take my quarrel

to the sorrel,

it’ll eat you like a morsel,

use your flaws as signpost morals,

brutal portal to the ceding of all

immutable chortles–

aurora born

orbit torn,

neon dyes

clawed cries

saturnine sines,

let the sky fall on my head

and I’ll raise it right like

Atlas underneath Antarctica,

patient sage

leasing rampage

of light

til the world cries

“throw me up to heaven,

hungry heart revvin”

and we shotput aim

for the galaxy’s center

with our sky-scorned imaginations

who know no better

than to wish

after brighter salutations

beneath this endless storm.

    1. Thank you! I went all-out on the rhythm and rhymes here, to the expense of creating a deep meaning for the poem (not that that’s a bad thing, just different from what I often do), so I’m glad you appreciated it!
