silly humility
got me like frogs in the water
blinking black soggy eyes,
silly humility
got me an illusion of shame
in the rivers,
bad people aren’t humble, you know,
neither are people who think they’re good,
humble and bumble
to childlike wonder
flung out for hunger
what silly futility
when wardens of poise
watch wards full of poison
peeps laugh when they’re proud,
proud as a turkey, tenacious toads,
proud as a field of torrential toes,
silly mobility,
who needs balance or feet
when they have
conundrum pendulums
orbiting the earth
like good haven stations
grasping guchi-guchi goo gulberries
silly stability
goliath bullfrog Jeremiah
was a pocket,
humble as his station deserves,
low as the dust
speaker for God
low as one
speaker for the dead
stole the head
stoke the violence
stole of meekness
humble holiness
save you now
burn it down
wide bright eyes
touch the sky
cut the heavens
with our trees
(burn it down)
smoky ascension
take this lesson
no one here deserves it
no one here deserves his love
or mercy
or justice
or obedience
we’re all just silly
willy billy goats
eatin’ grace gruff
walkin’ to the bluff
call its bluff
so rough in a glove and stuff
flood that fire
rapturing higher
oh no
the boodles came
and they said
don’t hurt
the water
in the frogs,
they’re all just
ashamed of speaking true illusions
at our faces,
silly ability,
so they think,
don’t dare drink up
the truth
but I bow
to the river
and ask for
wonder to be restored
thunder to walk pre-scored
oceans to drip asunder
neither good nor bad nor deserved
just persnickety clickety waterfall frown poppin’ the sound up to tomorrow,
hunting for a furrow where dreams float free of their silly willy sorrow sometimes
and our billy goat bellies have enough to feast
above the streams–
this is how I bow
to the frogs drowning in the water
asking for a God
to lease my freedom
lapse my reason
loose my poison prison
and break my mind
out of heaven.
