Magma Moon/Mount Doom

Hello earth

I don’t remember your birth

so let’s make up a story,

make it gory,

all

asteroids crashing

and magma rising,

acid clouds and boiling rain

falling on the lava plains

’til the stones cooled

and the continents moved

to heave up the Glorious Mount Doom

with cliffs of granite

rising from the planet–

it shot pus

into the sky

and there formed the moon

made of craters and glamour

to draw upon

the seas

and wreck continents’ knees

until the ice age seized

and made the oceans freeze

and killed the fishies

but pleased mammoths’ needs

then

an eon later

the ice

melted

and the waters rose

so the mammals dozed

or took up swimming

and the moon

took notice

of his fetching reflection

and the earth kept spinning

like nothing happened.
