I’m starting a youtube channel

Like, for real, I actually am. Here’s the first video:

So, you may know I have qualms about some of youtube’s recent policies, and…yeah my concerns still haven’t gone away, despite starting this youtube channel.

But at this point, video content seems like one of the best ways to market novels.

And if I’m going to be pessimistic for a moment, vast swaths of the internet feel corrupt in varying degrees, making it hard to connect with other people on neutral territory–everywhere is owned by someone who’s using your data for something.

As Bo Burnham might say, that’s (unfortunately) how the world works.

So I’m trying to navigate the options available to me, while feeling like most of the options aren’t very good ones, in hopes of making this author-thing grow.

Thus, I’m starting a youtube channel.

But hey, enough pessimism, come connect with me on not-neutral territory:)

This video’s a fun little montage of me building a character in Minecraft from one of my books. Is it 100% accurate to the descriptions in the book? Well, it tries to be, but Minecraft is a game of blocks, and the people in the books are not made of blocks, so…

But it’s a fair approximation.

Ps, I’m still working on getting So Speaks the Ruinous Light published. I’m aware it’s not August anymore, and that’s when I wanted to get it published by. But it’s getting closer. Steadily getting closer…
