Die da dah

So I said

how do you

shapeshift

into a demon?

Those

and dragons

aren’t in any of the books

or classes

or in any rune combination

I’ve found.

Ie a ah

Dr. Mizto frowned

toothily

and said they weren’t sure

any mortal could become something immortal

just by shapeshifting.

Sure, I could sprout the wings

or the tails

but couldn’t inherently

gain an immunity to flame

(unless I grew the skin

of a flame goblin, but

even that can still burn in the right conditions)

and from what it sounded like,

I wanted to knock unconscious my sapient heart

(technically, my problem was vaguely like that)

and growing demon wings or horns

wouldn’t do that.

So they

recommended

summoning a powerful spirit

and letting it possess me.

That’d probably

stop my heart

but keep me alive

ish.

I would possibly

lose all control of my body

and/or awareness

but

my heart

probably wouldn’t bother me anymore.

Flaming souls,

they said,

I knew mortals had a brain in control

but they also have a heart warring for command

of their bodies?

Wow, I’ll have to add that to my questionnaire,

“Write about a time your brain and heart fought for control of your body.”

Wait, Witch Kook–am I speaking to your brain in control right now,

or your heart?

Because if it’s your heart

we probably need to help you

not imagine suicide.

By pits and portals, how have mortals

existed for so long

with all these problems

like themselves

trying to kill them?

And I said

yeah

thanks

but

I think you’re kind of missing the point.

Then I left.

Guess I should’ve known better

than to ask a demon

for advice

about being

a good li’l witch

consumed by guilt

for a night

and a city

and a girl

I still sort of write letters to.
