Giving Hand/Neverland

Bring out the hook, line and sinker,

baited by a gelatinous tinker

bell,

sizzle in a liter pan,

I’m so silly

cookin’ for Billy

gook and the hook

and the shook captain’s crocodile tock–

what’s the difference between a gator and a croc?

One’s a juice, one’s a shoe,

ask wikipedia for the truth,

I really thought

we were getting to the heart of the matter

but I’m fresh out of

caring,

didn’t pick any up at the store

with my grocery bill,

was too busy baking up my belly fill,

story of the world is

too vast

to summarize in a poem

so never mind, let’s pretend

we have eternal youth

and enough goofy pranks

to distract ourselves

all around the clock,

slap me like a fish

and they won’t care,

tell me your wish

but this star won’t dare

interfere in Neverland affairs,

you’re on your own, kid,

isn’t that so silly?

You’re on your own, kid,

but you’ve got forever to figure out

how not to die,

or something like survive,

I’ll bet

if you go fishin’ for wishes

the delicious constellations

will guide you,

because somebody far out there

probably has some spare

capacity to care.
